Making Basic Target arrows
In a bout of surprising foresight. I have not only remembered to capture footage, but also to edit a video of the process i undergo when making arrows. This case in particular is the making of a set of basic target arrows. And now i remembered to post about it as well.
This is the simplest arrow type that I make on order, and are spruce shafts, matched to within 5# of the draw weight. The piles are field tips. The nock a simple self nock with string reinforcement. The Arrow is then fletched with a 4” turkey natural shield (profile varies).
Even though I said that these are the simplest arrows. There is a suprising amount of steps that go into making these. And I wanted to show that. So here is the video that takes you along for the process every arrow of this type undergoes.
A quick note the video has no narration as it is part of my Working Hands series. That is to say it focuses on the work being done showing a slice of workshop life.
I hope that you enjoyed the video.
And I have added a few more of the glamour shots, that didn’t make it into the video.
